Week 31 “Busca Y Encuentra Lo Que Tu Prójimo Necesita”

     Hola. ¡Espero que todos estén bien! Esta semana definitivamente ha tenido unos puntos bajos, pero también ha tenido de los puntos más altos de la misión. Otra vez tuvimos un devocional del Hno. Erickson que cambió mi misión. Aparentemente, según Élder Carroll este cuate cobra como $75000 para hablar enfrente de la gente. En fin, me di cuenta que tenía que cambiar la manera en la que hablo con la gente. No sé si han visto el ejemplo de "Véndeme  esta pluma," pero básicamente un vendedor pone otros vendedores a prueba diciéndoles que les venda una pluma. Naturalmente, los vendedores empiezan a hablar de lo genial que es la pluma, e inmediatamente son reprobados. Si le decimos a la persona que necesitan escribir algo, hemos creado una necesidad para ellos, y ahora sí necesitan la pluma. Muchas veces, simplemente me he acercado a la gente y empiezo a hablar de lo grande que es el Libro de Mormón, sin darme cuenta de lo que ellos necesitan.

     Esta semana, oré mucho para tener el don de discernimiento. Cuando contactamos a una persona, hicimos todo lo posible para sacarle plática, para ver sus necesidades específicas, y luego testificar y demostrar cómo el Libro de Mormón les puede ayudar en eso. Realmente, no hay NINGÚN problema que Dios y las escrituras no puedan resolver. He podido testificar y enseñar con un poder y una claridad que antes no tenía. ¿Los resultados? Pues, hemos puesto 5 fechas esta semana. Desafortunadamente, no todos nuestros amigos lograron llegar a la iglesia, pero vamos a seguir haciendo lo posible. Una hermana, la Hna. Teodora, aceptó una fecha después de ver un milagro. Por 8 años, esta hermana ha tratado de embarazarse, sin resultados. Hace unos días, nos dio la noticia de que después de asistir la iglesia, ¡por fin está embarazada! Ella y su cuñada aceptaron fechas para el 16 de Febrero y están progresando super super bien. Su pariente en común, su hermano/esposo, es un miembro que está regresando a la iglesia y ¡pronto recibirá el sacerdocio mayor!

     Nuestro otro goat sería nuestro amigo Axel. Él es un niño de 9 años, pero él mismo está poniendo el ejemplo para toda su familia. Él vive con sus hermanos, papás y abuelo, pero solo su abuelo es miembro. Sin embargo, él lo acompaña a la iglesia cada domingo, y se está memorizando los artículos de fe. Se compró una camisa de vestir para la iglesia y cuando lo visitamos ayer a las 8 pm todavía la tenía puesta. Él nos dijo anoche que quiere tomar de un bautismo, pero debido a su edad va a ser un poco más complicado. Sin embargo, no perderemos la fe. ¡Oren para ablandar los corazones de sus padres!

 

    Tenemos 3 hermanos que estamos preparando para recibir el sacerdocio de Melquisedec. Esto es enorme porque para una rama necesitamos 4, y ya tenemos 3, así que ¡solo es cuestión de tiempo! Pronto, tendremos la rama San José. Toda la misión está creciendo muy rápido. Justo ayer estabamos tan estresados porque como distrito tenemos tantos bautismos programados para el 16 de Febrero, que necesitamos organizarnos super bien entre todos para tener tiempo para todos jaja. ¡La obra del Señor no tiene fin, les amo!!

Pensamiento Espiritual: Es un gozo ser limpios. Lo pude experimentar mucho esta semana. Algo que aprendí de mi entrenador es que si tienes algo en tu mente que estás debatiendo confesar o no, siempre es mejor decir la verdad. Satanás siempre va a tratar de convencernos de que no necesitamos hacerlo, pero aunque tal vez sea difícil al inicio, les puedo testificar y prometer que nuestro gozo puede ser tan profundo como lo fue nuestro dolor.

    Hello. I hope everyone is doing well! This week has definitely had some low points, but it has also had some of the highest points of the mission. We had another devotional from Brother Erickson that changed my mission. Apparently, according to Elder Carroll this guy charges like $75,000 to speak in front of people. Anyway, I realized that I needed to change the way I talk to people. I don't know if you've seen the "Sell me this pen" example, but basically a salesman tests other salesmen by telling them to sell them a pen. Naturally, the salesmen start talking about how great the pen is, and they immediately get rejected. If we tell the person that they need to write something, we've created a need for them, and now they do need the pen. Many times, I've just walked up to people and started talking about how great the Book of Mormon is, not realizing what they need.

     This week, I prayed a lot for the gift of discernment. When we contacted a person, we did everything possible to talk to them, to see their specific needs, and then testify and show them how the Book of Mormon can help them with that. There really is NO problem that God and the scriptures cannot solve. I have been able to testify and teach with a power and clarity that I didn't have before. The results? Well, we have set 5 baptismal dates this week. Unfortunately, not all of our friends were able to get to church, but we are going to keep doing our best. One sister, Sister Teodora, accepted a date after seeing a miracle. For 8 years, this sister has tried to get pregnant, without results. A few days ago, she gave us the news that after attending church, she is finally pregnant! She and her sister-in-law accepted dates for February 16th and they are progressing super super well. Their common family member, their husband/brother, is a member returning to church who will soon receive the higher priesthood!

     Our other goat would be our friend Axel. He is a 9-year-old boy, but he himself is setting the example for his entire family. He lives with his siblings, parents, and grandpa, but only his grandpa is a member. However, he accompanies him to church every Sunday, and is memorizing the articles of faith. He bought a dress shirt for church and when we visited him yesterday at 8pm he still had it on. He told us last night that he wants to receive a baptism, but because of his age it will be a little more complicated. However, we will not lose faith. Pray to soften the hearts of his parents!

     We have 3 brothers that we are preparing to receive the Melchizedek priesthood. This is huge because for a branch we need 4, and we already have 3, so it is only a matter of time! Soon, we will have the San José branch. The whole mission is growing so fast. Just yesterday we were so stressed because as a district we have so many baptisms scheduled for February 16th, that we need to organize ourselves super well among all of us to have time for everyone haha. The work of the Lord has no end, I love you all!!

Spiritual Thought: It is a joy to be clean. I was able to experience that a lot this week. Something I learned from my coach is that if you have something on your mind that you are debating whether to confess or not, it is always better to tell the truth. Satan will always try to convince us that we don't need to do it, but although it may be difficult at first, I can testify and promise you that our joy can be as deep as our pain was. Read Alma 36!
